You are here: Preferences > Automatic Services Preferences

Preferences: Automatic Services

Click , and select Preferences: Automatic Services.

Various automatic services run at all times while your RealPlayer is open, periodically checking that everything is up to date.

In addition, some services can be selected to run in the background, even when the RealPlayer is not open (such as the Message Center). Services that require information from the internet will be deferred until the next time you are logged onto the internet. (Automatic Services will not initiate an internet connection.) Use these Preferences to customize Automatic Services.

Services

Configure Message Center: Click to open the "Message Center Preferences" dialog.

New Player Version: Select for notification when a new version of RealPlayer is available and to get automatic updates for new web browsers and devices. This preference affects all RealPlayer components, including RealPlayer Converter.

Watch Folders: Select to let RealPlayer periodically scan your Watch Folders for media files that have not yet been added to your Library. The Player then creates a clip for each file and adds it to the Library. Setting this preference under Automatic Services also sets the same preference in Library Preferences.

Devices: Select to launch RealPlayer automatically, opened to the Library device view , when you connect a portable device to your computer. This is similar to launching your RealPlayer automatically when a CD is inserted into a CD drive.
