File types

RealDownloader can download and play files in RealAudio, RealVideo, FLV, and MPEG format. RealDownloader Plus can also copy files in other formats to portable devices. The following table lists these formats and basic information about them.

RealDownloader can download these kinds of files:

Format	Information
.flv Flash Video	Common format for video on the internet.
.mp4, AAC, MPEG4, H.264, .mov	Compressed video formats used by Apple and others. Requires RealDownloader Plus or QuickTime.
.rv, .rm, RealVideo	Compressed video format used by RealNetworks and others.
.ra, RealAudio	Compressed audio format used by RealNetworks and others.

RealDownloader Plus can copy these kinds of files to devices:

.wmv, WMV, Windows Media Video	Compressed video format used by Microsoft and others.
.mp4, AAC, H.264	Compressed video formats used by Apple and others. Requires RealDownloader Plus or QuickTime.
.3gp, 3GP, Cell Phone	Compressed video format optimized for cellular phones and mobile devices.
.m4a, AAC, MP4	Digital audio format developed as the "successor" to MP3.
.mp3, MP3	The most commonly used and supported compressed digital audio format.
.ra, RealAudio 10	Compressed audio format used by RealNetworks and others.
RealAudio Lossless	RealNetworks' lossless audio format. It retains all sound information, but with a smaller file size than Wave format.
.wav, WAV, Wave	The most commonly used and supported uncompressed audio format.
.wma, Windows Media Audio	Compressed audio format used by Microsoft and others.
