Preferences: Automatic Services > AutoUpdate

From the Menu bar, select Tools > Preferences: Automatic Services > AutoUpdate.

AutoUpdate helps keep RealPlayer up to date and provides other personalized information services. These preferences determine how AutoUpdate interacts with your computer when it is searching for or providing new or updated components to your RealPlayer.

Option

Description

Automatic Updates

(Default: On) When enabled, AutoUpdates are automatically downloaded and installed without your input. When disabled, AutoUpdate will prompt you for confirmation before downloading and installing updates. In either case, RealPlayer periodically contacts RealNetworks to determine if critical software updates are required.

Note: This communication can be limited so that it is only performed when RealPlayer is in use. To do so, select Configure the Message Center from the Tools > Preferences: Automatic Services dialog; then select Check only when RealPlayer is running from the Message Center Preferences.
