Trim Video

Get started

  1. Select a clip in your Library. Click Trim in the sidebar.
  2. RealPlayer Trimmer opens your video.

  1. Find your start point. You can use the following selection methods together or separately.
    • Use the cursor to grab the handle and move it to the section you want.
    • Click Play to play the video. Click again to pause it.
    • Use the cursor to grab the playhead or the time marker time marker and move it to fast-forward or reverse through the video.
  2. Move the cursor over the video. Click Set Start.
  3. Find your end point. Move the cursor over the video. Click Set End.
  4. Click Save Trim... .
Make a picture from a video
  1. Find the frame you want. You can use the following selection methods together or separately.
    • Use the cursor to grab the handle and move it to the section you want.
    • Click Play to play the video. Click again to pause it.
    • Use the cursor to grab the playhead or the time marker time marker and move it to fast-forward or reverse through the video.
  2. Move the cursor over the video. Click Save Picture.
  3. A Windows "Save As" dialog opens. Name the picture and choose a save location.

Note: It is not possible to trim VOB files at this time.

Good to know

The smallest unit that can be trimmed is a key frameA key frame marks a major visual change or a standard increment of time, not each frame.. The size of a key frame is determined by the content producer, not by RealPlayer Trimmer.

Click Close to close RealPlayer Trimmer without saving any changes.

Click to view the audio waveform in the progress bar instead of keyframes.

You can trim to a section of a clip, but you cannot connect two separate sections.

You can upload trimmed video files to Facebook and YouTube. When you Share or Post to any other social media sites from RealPlayer, you are sharing a link to content that exists on the internet.

You can use just the handles to set your start and end points.

The length of the trimmed version of the clip displays just below the area between the handles.
