Synchronize Devices

Synchronization compares the contents of My Library with the active (attached and selected) portable device. If the active portable device is missing any files, RealPlayer will download the necessary copies to the device.

Synchronization can occur manually or automatically.

To synchronize a device manually, select Synchronize Device from the sidebar in the Burn/Transfer page.
To allow RealPlayer to automatically synchronize files, first select Change Options... from the sidebar. This opens the "Options" dialog. Next, select the Synchronization tab, and then select Enable automatic synchronization... Thereafter, whenever a portable device is attached to your computer and RealPlayer is running, RealPlayer will synchronize My Library with the device.

Note: If your portable device does not support this function, you will not see the Synchronize Device command in the sidebar.

Synchronization Options

To change synchronization settings, selectChange Options...Change Options... from the sidebar and then select the Synchronization tab.

Option		Instructions
When to synchronize		Only allow manual synchronization...: Synchronization of files is done only when you select the function from the sidebar. Enable automatic synchronization...: RealPlayer automatically performs a synchronization whenever it detects a portable device being attached to the computer.
What to synchronize		Click Select Content to choose from the files you want synchronized to the device. All clips...: Synchronize all clips in My Library. Individual playlist...: Synchronize only clips listed in the selected playlist(s). Select playlists: Click to select or cancel the playlist(s) you want to synchronize. Only synchronize my audio content (no video): Allow only audio files to be synchronized with the portable device. Note: Only clips that link to local media files can be synchronized between My Library and the device.
How to synchronize		Do not delete files from my device...: If there are files on the device that are not in My Library, leave them on the device. Allow files to be deleted from my device...: Add and delete files on the device to match My Library.
Synchronization prompts		Prompt me if my device is synchronized with another computer: Synchronizing your device with more than one computer could result in numerous file additions and deletions. Adjust How and What to synchronize accordingly. Prompt me when synchronization completes: RealPlayer notifies you when all file transfers to the device are finished.
