You can configure RealPlayer to automatically convert music files to a specific bitrate and media format when you copy them to your portable device. You can also configure how your portable device stores and plays these music files. You can set these and other options from the Burn/Transfer page.
Note: If your portable device does not support this function, you will not see the Change Options command in the sidebar.

Name your device: Allows you to enter a "friendly" name for your portable device. Reset warnings and dialogs: Forces all transfer notification dialogs to be displayed again, even if you have seen them before or marked them as Do not display again. Device Folder Options: When selected, transfers files into artist folders and album subfolders on the portable device. |

Transfer |
Convert only when necessary (Default: On): Converts clips only when the existing format is not compatible with the device. The original file is unchanged. Always convert: Converts all the media you are transferring to the same format and bitrate. Format: Select a compatible format from the drop-down list. Quality: Select the desired bitrate from the drop-down list. Note: If you do not have the CD-Quality MP3 plug-in installed, a link is provided. When clips already exist..: Select which default action to take when a file to be transferred is already on the portable device. Options are to skip the next file to transfer, overwrite the existing file, or prompt you for a decision for each attempted transfer. This option is only used during a manual transfer, not during Synchronization (see below). |

The files listed in My Library and on the portable device are compared. If the files or playlists on the device do not match the list of files marked in My Library to be synchronized, files will be copied to and deleted from the device until the contents of the device are the same as the selection in My Library.
