Because Media Clips are only shortcuts, you can freely delete clips and playlists from the Library without worrying about destroying any actual media files (unless you want that to happen).
To permanently remove the associated media file from your computer when you delete its clip from the Library, select Also delete files(s)... from the "Delete Clips" dialog. (This option is not available when you delete clips from a playlist.)
How to Delete Clips
- Open the Library.
- Find and select the clip or clips you want to delete.
- Right-click on the clips and select Delete. Or select Delete from the Edit menu. Or press [DELETE] on your keyboard. The "Delete Clips" dialog opens.
- Click Delete to confirm.
If you select the Also delete files(s) from hard drive option, RealPlayer will permanently remove the associated media files from your computer.
How to Delete Playlists or AutoPlaylists
- Open the Library.
- From the sidebar, click Playlists or AutoPlaylists.
- Select the playlist or AutoPlaylist you want to delete.
- Right-click on the playlist and select Delete. Or select Delete from the Edit menu. Or press [DELETE] on your keyboard.
- Click Yes to confirm.
How to Delete Clips from a Playlist or Autoplaylist
- Open the Library.
- From the sidebar, click Playlists or AutoPlaylists.
- Double-click the playlist you wish to edit. The playlist contents will be listed.
- Select the clip or clips you wish to delete.
- Right-click on the clips and select Delete. Or select Delete from the Edit menu. Or press [DELETE] on your keyboard. Note: there is no confirmation step.
