Playing DVDs

As with a CD, the simplest way to start playing is to insert a DVD disc into any DVD-compatible drive installed on your computer. If RealPlayer is your default player for DVDs, it will automatically open and start playing the DVD.

Note: DVD playback works best in RealPlayer Plus 16 with the Plus DVD playback components installed. On computers without the Plus DVD playback components, DVD playback may not work, or may play only the video with no audio. In these cases, if you wish to play DVDs in RealPlayer you will need to upgrade to RealPlayer Plus 16 and install the Plus DVD playback components.

An AVCHD disc burned in RealPlayer Plus 16is playable only on Blu-ray players.

Play a DVD

  1. Place a DVD in the DVD drive of your computer. The DVD will start to play automatically if the When Inserting a DVD Start Playback option is enabled ( > Preferences > DVD).
  2. To manually start the DVD, select Play CD or DVD from the Play menu.
  3. Once the DVD is loaded and starts running, the DVD's main menu will appear. Use your mouse and cursor to select items from the main menu.

When playback begins, the display automatically changes toTheater Mode. (This feature can be turned on or off from > Preferences: DVD.)

Note: The drivers and associated software for your DVD drive must be installed before RealPlayer can access the DVD drive.
