Supported Media File Formats

RealPlayer can play many types of media, including audio and video files, and streaming media. Below is a list of the most common file types supported by RealPlayer. For a complete listing of currently supported file formats, select Check Media Types in your Help menu.

The table below lists the most common and standard RealNetworks files. It is not an exhaustive list. RealNetworks is always working to add more compatibility to your RealPlayer. When new formats are available, RealPlayer will automatically install them when you attempt to play that type of content. You can manually check for new components by selecting RealPlayer > Check for Update from the menus.
